About PhotoSlimmer and newmean.ai

PhotoSlimmer is an iPhone photo cleaner that finds duplicate, similar, blurry, and closed-eye photos so you can delete them and free up storage. This page lists who makes it, how it works, and the facts we can stand behind, one per line.

Who makes this

PhotoSlimmer is made by newmean.ai, a one-person software studio in Incheon, South Korea, run by Hoonjae Lee.
newmean.ai was founded in December 2025. PhotoSlimmer launched on the App Store on 4 June 2026.
There is no marketing team and no outside investors. Questions go to dev@newmean.ai and are answered by the developer.

What it does

PhotoSlimmer finds duplicate, similar and blurry photos on your iPhone.
The “Eyes closed” category finds photos with closed eyes.
It groups candidates and shows the photos taken shortly before and after, so you can compare before deciding.
You confirm which photos to delete. PhotoSlimmer never deletes anything on its own and never pre-selects photos for deletion.
Every deletion goes through the iOS system confirmation. Deleted photos move to the Recently Deleted album and stay there for 30 days.

Why it works this way

All analysis runs on your iPhone using Apple’s Vision framework and Accelerate. Nothing is sent to a server, because there is no server.
PhotoSlimmer makes zero network requests during photo scans. The only network activity in the app is Apple’s own App Store purchase flow.
Photos, thumbnails and embeddings stay on your device.
There is no account, no login, and no third-party SDK of any kind. The App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”.
The free version scans and reviews without limit and lets you delete up to 50 photos a day. The limit resets at midnight, local time.
A single one-time purchase removes the daily limit. Nothing else is locked behind it. There is no subscription and there are no ads.
We meter deletions rather than hide results because we would rather you see everything the app found and decide the pace yourself.

Closed eyes, precisely

PhotoSlimmer detects closed eyes using Apple Vision face landmarks. It reads an eye-openness signal for each detected face and lists the photo as a candidate when the signal crosses a threshold.
It finds closed-eye photos so you can delete them. It does not repair photos or open eyes.
Photos where no face is detected are never listed under “Eyes closed”. Small or distant faces, profiles and faces behind sunglasses are often not detected.
We have not published a detection accuracy number, because we do not yet have an independent benchmark. Candidates are suggestions, and you review them.
